Neurodevelopmental signatures of narcotic and neuropsychiatric risk factors in 3D human-derived forebrain organoids

Michael Notaras et al.

Summary: Using human induced pluripotent stem cells, this study generated organoids to study developmental effects of various narcotic and neuropsychiatric-related risk factors in human tissue. Results revealed both common and unique alterations in proteome, reactome, and metabolome due to environmental modeling of these risk factors. Among the treatments, exposure to the cannabinoid WIN 55,212-2 showed neurotoxic effects on developing forebrain tissue, suggesting caution in maternal cannabinoid use during pregnancy.
