The association between maternal lipid profile after birth and offspring risk of autism spectrum disorder

Bo Y. Park et al.

Summary: Maternal obesity has been consistently linked to offspring risk for ASD and lipid metabolism derangements. A study examining maternal lipids in relation to prepregnancy BMI found that lower maternal postpartum plasma LDL concentration was associated with increased odds of ASD in offspring. The risk was more pronounced in overweight and obese mothers compared to normal-weight mothers, highlighting the importance of considering both maternal BMI and lipids in assessing offspring ASD risk.

Lipid and glucose metabolism in white adipocytes: pathways, dysfunction and therapeutics

Pauline Morigny et al.

Summary: White adipocyte metabolism plays a crucial role in systemic metabolism regulation and is often disrupted in conditions like cancer and type 2 diabetes mellitus. This review provides an overview of lipid metabolism in white adipocytes and discusses how these pathways can serve as therapeutic targets in metabolic disorders.

Structural and Lipidomic Alterations of Striatal Myelin in 16p11.2 Deletion Mouse Model of Autism Spectrum Disorder

Jun Ju et al.

Summary: Myelin abnormalities were found in the striatum of 16p11.2(+/-) mouse model of ASD, with downregulated expression of myelin genes and decreased myelin thickness. Lipidomic analysis revealed decreased levels of certain myelin components in the striatum, suggesting a role for myelin and myelin lipids in ASD development.
