Macrohabitat associations and phenology of carrion beetles (Coleoptera: Silphidae, Leiodidae: Cholevinae)

Matthew Esh et al.

Summary: Carrion beetles play a significant role as decomposers of vertebrate carcasses in terrestrial ecosystems, though their ecology and phenology are relatively understudied. This research found differences in carrion beetle assemblages among different macrohabitats and over the growing season. The study provides important ecological and phenological information that could aid in the conservation of carrion beetles in Western Europe.
