Understanding the diversification pattern of three subspecies of swamp deer (Rucervus duvaucelii) during the Pleistocene-Holocene based on mitochondrial and Y chromosome markers

Ved Prakash Kumar et al.

Summary: This study conducted phylogeography of three subspecies/populations of swamp deer using mitochondrial cyt b gene and Y chromosome DBY-7. Results showed small genetic divergence between northern and eastern populations, while a larger divergence was observed between northern and central populations. Molecular dating indicated swamp deer split into two major clades around 1.3 million years ago.

Detection of 40 bp tandem repeat motif and associated insertions and deletions (INDEL) in the mitochondrial DNA control region of Sambar deer (Rusa unicolor)

Mirza Ghazanfarullah Ghazi et al.

Summary: The study on genetic variability of Sambar populations in India revealed phylogeographic differentiation among populations, with Northeast populations exhibiting unique mtDNA control region haplotypes. Additionally, a 40 bp tandem repeat motif was identified in the mtDNA control region, indicating variations in copy numbers among different populations.
