Recycling gold from printed circuit boards gold-plated layer of waste mobile phones in mild aqua regia system

Ruixue Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, gold was easily recycled from waste mobile phones using a DMF-CuCl2-CaCl2 system, without the need for pretreatments or an enrichment process, and the reaction system could be cyclically utilized. After parameter optimization, the gold leaching rate and precipitation rate could reach over 99%. DMF played a significant role in the leaching system.

Thiosulfate leaching of gold catalyzed by hexaamminecobalt(III): Electrochemical behavior and mechanisms

Yan Zhang et al.

Summary: This study investigated the electrochemical behavior of gold leaching in ammoniacal thiosulfate solutions catalyzed by Co(NH3)6(3+), and found that Co(NH3)6(3+) is more efficient than Cu(NH3)4(2+). A new catalytic mechanism involving redox cycle between Co(NH3)6(3+) and Co(NH3)x(S2O3)(0) (x = 4, 5) was proposed for the leaching of gold with ammoniacal thiosulfate.
