A two step approach for making super capacitors from waste wood

Yu Ma et al.

Summary: This study tested a strategy for using forestry wood waste to prepare activated carbon monoliths for supercapacitor electrodes, showing high specific capacitance and total capacitance. The crack-free products were achieved through multi-step pyrolysis and chemical activation, with activation by potassium hydroxide. Technical economic assessment confirmed energy-saving potential, and the strategy holds promise for global waste wood reuse.
