Application of solid-phase extraction based on magnetic nanoparticle adsorbents for the analysis of selected persistent organic pollutants in environmental water: A review of recent advances

Aiming Wu et al.

Summary: This review discusses the application of solid-phase extraction based on functionalized magnetic nanoparticle adsorbents for the detection of trace persistent organic pollutants in environmental water from 2015 to 2019, as well as the synthetic routes, characteristics of modification materials, selective sorption mechanisms, and analytical performance of these adsorbents. The properties of environmental water samples have complex effects on the extraction efficiency of POPs, and improvements in magnetic solid-phase extraction for POP analysis should focus on novel applicable functionalized MNP adsorbents, suitable detection techniques, combination of other extraction techniques, and automation of MSPE.

Preparation and evaluation of a new solid-phase microextraction fiber based on polythionine for analysis of phthalate esters in aqueous samples

Ali Ahmad Moahammadi et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that the Polythionine solid-phase microextraction coating showed good analytical performance and stability when analyzing the four phthalate esters. Under optimized conditions, the detection limits were 0.34-1.67 mu g L-1, with inter-day and intra-day relative standard deviations of 7.64-10.62% and 10.14-12.84%, respectively. The relative recoveries for the analysis of phthalates in real samples ranged from 82.63 to 119.50%.

Quantification of artificial sweeteners in alcoholic drinks using direct analysis in real-time QTRAP mass spectrometry

Xiaomin Li et al.

Summary: This study presents a robust method for simultaneous screening and quantitation of seven artificial sweeteners in alcoholic drinks using direct analysis in real time coupled with QTRAP mass spectrometry. The method is simple, linear, with low limit of quantification and accurate in monitoring the artificial sweeteners in various alcoholic beverages. The approach described could be suitable for large-scale application in routine quality control analysis of artificial sweeteners.

Postsynthesis Strategy of Functional Zn-MOF Sensors for the Detection of ClO- and DPA

Huijun Li et al.

Summary: Active species were introduced into MOFs to prepare multifunctional fluorescent probes through a stepwise postsynthetic modulation strategy. The resulting NH2-HPU-17 showed a significant response to ClO- and could encapsulate Tb3+ to sensitize its visible-emitting characteristic fluorescence. This work paves a new way for the design and modulation of ratiometric fluorescence probes for the selective and sensitive detection of special molecules.
