ALK7 Acts as a Positive Regulator of Macrophage Activation through Down-Regulation of PPARγ Expression

Wen-Lin Cheng et al.

Summary: ALK7 is upregulated in oxidized LDL-induced BMDMs and MPMs from ApoE-deficient mice, and ALK7 knockdown attenuates pro-inflammatory markers while promoting anti-inflammatory markers expression. Additionally, ALK7 silencing reduces foam cell formation by regulating genes involved in cholesterol efflux and influx, with upregulation of PPAR gamma.
