Biotechnological applications of Bacillus licheniformis

Andrea Muras et al.

Summary: Bacillus licheniformis is a Gram positive spore-forming bacterial species with high biotechnological potential, used for producing bioactive compounds and bioproducts in various fields. Its applications include probiotics, bioflocculation, biofuel production, and bioremediation among others, but safety concerns exist due to potential transfer of antibiotic resistance genes. Developing a standardized protocol to describe novel strains is crucial for evaluating the biotechnological potential of this species.
