Design, manufacture and crushing behaviors of buckling-inspired auxetic meta-lattice structures

Jianhua Dong et al.

Summary: By introducing buckling patterns into lattice structures, a novel buckling inspired lattice meta-structure (BILM) was designed to transform positive Poisson's ratio structures into negative Poisson's ratio structures. The curved struts in the BILM exhibit excellent ductile crushing behavior, improving crushing stability and energy absorption performance as the central angle increases. The BILM shows promising energy absorption capabilities by reducing initial peak force and increasing specific energy absorption and crushing force efficiency.

Dynamic crushing analysis of a circular honeycomb with leaf vein branched characteristic

Qiang He et al.

Summary: A novel honeycomb structure named LVBH is proposed, which has better energy absorption performance with 79.94% higher specific energy absorption per unit mass (SEA(m)) compared to regular honeycomb. LVBH with moderate structural parameters exhibits better mechanical properties, and the specific energy absorption can be increased through thickness matching.
