Analytical consideration of the radial clearance to reduce cage slip of the turbo engine roller bearing

Sun Je Kim

Summary: The roller bearings of aircraft turbo engines operate under high-speed conditions of over 2 million DN. Insufficient contact force between rollers and the raceway can cause relative slip and decrease the speed of the cage, potentially leading to skid damage in the raceway. This study quantifies cage slip ratio based on clearance changes and geometric parameters, and proposes a design methodology for selecting proper operating clearance considering cage slip and fatigue life.

Dynamic load and thermal coupled analysis for the inter-shaft bearing in a dual-rotor system

Peng Gao et al.

Summary: This paper focuses on analyzing the temperatures of inter-shaft bearings in dual-rotor systems, finding that the temperature of the bearings sharply increases and forms two peaks in the resonance zone, while gradually increasing in the non-resonance zone. The load friction heat generation plays a leading role in the resonance zone, while the viscosity friction heat generation is dominant in the non-resonance zone.

Optimal design of surface texture in meso scale air journal bearing

Nilesh D. Hingawe et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the influence of texture geometrical parameters on the tribological performance of meso scale air journal bearing. Through numerical simulations and optimization, it is found that textured air bearings have higher load carrying capacity and lower friction coefficient compared to plain air bearings.
