The microwave-assisted synthesis of MoO2 nanoparticles using a home microwave oven proved to be effective, yielding nearly phase pure nanostructured MoO2 with particle diameter of less than 14 nm.
Microwave method has not been so well explored for synthesis of MoO2 nanoparticles. The article presents first of its kind microwave assisted synthesis of molybdenum dioxide nano-particles by use of home microwave oven. The commercial molybdenum trioxide upon excessive etching by hydrazine hydrate yielded nearly phase pure nanostructured MoO2 with particle diameter of less than 14 nm.
