In this study, mesoporous zeolite mordenite (MOR-S2) was prepared as a solid desiccant and successfully applied for drying a wet gas model. The synthesized zeolite exhibited excellent dehydration capacity and breakthrough capacity, and also showed retained structural properties in concentrated sulfuric acid solution.
In this study, mesoporous zeolite mordenite (MOR-S2) was prepared as a solid desiccant for drying a wet gas model. The synthesized zeolite could dehydrate the nitrogen gas with an initial water content of 53 ppmv down to ca. 3 ppmv in only 60 s with a breakthrough capacity of 7.55 g/g. Five dehydration cycles indicated no changes in the adsorption behavior of the desiccant. Moreover, the retained structural properties of the syn-thesized zeolite after immersing in concentrated (97 %) sulfuric acid solution declared that it could be utilized as a desiccant for drying moist corrosive gases on an industrial scale.
