In this study, the influence of magnesium substitution on Ba0.95-xSr0.05MgxTiO3 was investigated, leading to an improvement in the dielectric loss which is significant for potential applications.
Here we report influence of magnesium substitution on the properties of Barium Strontium Titanate (BST) having compositional formula Ba0.95-xSr0.05MgxTiO3. The ceramic samples were synthesized by standard solid state reaction method. All the samples were subjected to XRD analysis and were found to be single phase with perovskite structure. Dielectric properties were studied as a function of frequency (1 kHz-100 kHz) and temperature (20 degrees C-160 degrees C). Microstructure was analysed using SEM. An improvement in the dielectric loss was observed with substitution of magnesium which is important from application point of view.
