The influence of magnesium substitution for calcium on the structural and dielectric properties of 46.1SiO(2)-26.9CaO-24.4Na(2)O-2.6P(2)O(5) (45S5) ceramic was investigated. X-ray diffraction analysis confirmed the presence of major phase of combeite in the ceramics, with the identification of forsterite phase and minor peaks of sodium magnesium silicate with increasing magnesium substitution. Changes in crystallite size and microstrain induced by magnesium doping were analyzed. Dielectric measurements revealed an increase in dielectric constant and ac conductivity with 50 mol % magnesium substitution for calcium.
The influence of magnesium (Mg) substitution (0-100 mol%) for calcium (Ca) has been investigated on structural and dielectric properties of 46.1SiO(2)-26.9CaO-24.4Na(2)O-2.6P(2)O(5) (45S5) ceramic. A major phase of combeite (Na2Ca2Si3O9) in ceramics was confirmed by X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis. Moreover, forsterite (Mg2SiO4) phase was identified along with some minor peaks of sodium magnesium silicate (Na2MgSiO4) with increasing Mg substitution. Variation in crystallite size and microstrain induced by Mg doping in ceramic were investigated using Scherrer relation and Williamson-Hall method. The dielectric measurements revealed an increase in dielectric constant (kappa similar to 12 x 10(2) at 100 Hz) and ac conductivity of 4555 ceramic with 50 mol % Mg substitution for Ca.
