Gas Adsorption Characterization of Pore Structure of Organic-rich Shale: Insights into Contribution of Organic Matter to Shale Pore Network

Yang Wang et al.

Summary: The study shows that organic matter and organic matter-hosted pores play significant roles in the pore network of Wufeng-Longmaxi shale. The pore structure heterogeneity of the bulk shale is stronger than that of isolated organic matter, and pores associated with minerals enhance the heterogeneity to some extent. Organic matter and its hosted pores contribute significantly to the entire pore network of Wufeng-Longmaxi shale.

Shale Gas Exploration and Development in China: Current Status, Geological Challenges, and Future Directions

Chuanxiang Sun et al.

Summary: China has achieved significant success in shale gas exploration and production, with a focus on developing resources in the Wufeng and Longmaxi Formations in the Sichuan Basin. Challenges remain in tapping into the vast shale gas resources across different formations. Recommendations have been made for improving technology, seeking exploration breakthroughs, and conducting preliminary studies to guide future development efforts.
