Exploring oxygen diffusion and respiration in pome fruit using non-destructive gas in scattering media absorption spectroscopy

Manju Joseph et al.

Summary: The research validates and evaluates the application of nondestructive gas in scattering media absorption spectroscopy (GASMAS) O-2 sensing in fruit post-harvest. Fruit response-based O-2 sensing and control can effectively reduce hypoxia-related physiological disorders and extend the shelf life of stored fruit. Differences in oxygen consumption among different fruit varieties were observed using GASMAS measurements, indicating a potential relationship between oxygen sensing technology and fruit porosity.
