Highly fluorescent nitrogen-doped carbon dots for selective and sensitive detection of Hg2+ and ClO- ions and fluorescent ink

Yu-Xuan Li et al.

Summary: In this study, fluorescent nitrogen-doped carbon dots (NCDs) were synthesized using a facile one-step hydrothermal strategy with citric acid, ethylenediamine, and fluorescein as precursors. The NCDs exhibited blue fluorescence with high quantum yield and stability, making them suitable for detecting heavy metal ions and hypochlorite with high sensitivity and selectivity. Additionally, the synthesized NCDs showed potential for environmental monitoring applications.

A novel thioctic acid-carbon dots fluorescence sensor for the detection of Hg2+ and thiophanate methyl via S-Hg affinity

Shuo Wang et al.

Summary: Thioctic acid-carbon dots were synthesized and used as a fluorescent turn-off-on probe to detect Mercury ions and thiophanate methyl. The sensor showed no interference from other common metal ions and pesticides, and exhibited low detection limits for Hg2+ and TM. It was successfully applied for detecting Hg2+ and TM in real water samples.

The synthesis of novel fluorescent bimetal nanoclusters for aqueous mercury detection based on aggregation-induced quenching

Fangfang Yu et al.

Summary: The new bimetal nanoclusters (DAMP-AuAg BNCs) synthesized with 4,6-diamino-2-mercaptopyrimidine (DAMP) showed strong fluorescent emission at 640 nm under 473 nm excitation, with specific and sensitive detection of Hg2+ in aqueous solution. The affinity of Hg2+ for nitrogen in the nanoclusters should also be considered. Due to their excellent performance, the DAMP-AuAg BNCs have potential as fluorescent sensors for mercury ions in water samples.

Fluorescence sensing of cyanide anions based on Au-modified upconversion nanoassemblies

Chunning Sun et al.

Summary: Fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET)-based upconversion nanoprobes for cyanide anions were designed by assembling Au nanoparticles on core-shell-structured NaYF4:Yb,Er@NaYF4:Yb upconversion NPs, showing high sensitivity and selectivity. The cyanide-mediated redox reaction leads to the consumption of Au nanoparticles, resulting in UCL recovery by inhibiting the FRET process.
