Phage therapeutics: from promises to practices and prospectives

Kanika Bhargava et al.

Summary: This article highlights the mechanism of bacteriophage treatment as a real solution for multidrug-resistant infectious diseases, with potential application prospects. Bacteriophages have unique features such as host specificity and no impact on other commensals.

A Novel N4-Like Bacteriophage Isolated from a Wastewater Source in South India with Activity against Several Multidrug-Resistant Clinical Pseudomonas aeruginosa Isolates

Nitasha D. Menon et al.

Summary: The novel P. aeruginosa N4-like lytic bacteriophage AM.P2 efficiently lyses the model strain PAO1 and shows synergy with the antibiotic ciprofloxacin. It successfully inhibited the growth of almost 30% of multidrug-resistant P. aeruginosa clinical isolates from South India, making it a potential candidate for phage cocktails in water decontamination and clinical bacteriophage therapy.

Resistance and Adaptation of Bacteria to Non-Antibiotic Antibacterial Agents: Physical Stressors, Nanoparticles, and Bacteriophages

Sada Raza et al.

Summary: Antimicrobial resistance poses a significant threat to human health globally, leading scientists to explore non-traditional antibacterial agents to combat drug-resistant bacteria. New antibiotic-free approaches are being developed at the intersection of physics, nanotechnology, and microbiology, while the effectiveness of these solutions in the long term remains uncertain.

Enteropathogenic Escherichia coli-A Summary of the Literature

Anca Delia Mare et al.

Summary: Diarrheal disease remains a major public health concern, especially for children under five years of age, with EPEC being a common cause of this illness. Molecular methods are now recommended for diagnosing EPEC, which can distinguish between typical and atypical strains based on the presence/absence of specific virulence factors. EPEC can cause attaching and effacing lesions on intestinal epithelium, leading to disruption of microvilli, and no vaccines are currently available for preventing EPEC infections.
