Externally Pumped Photonic Chip-Based Ultrafast Raman Soliton Source

Zhao Li et al.

Summary: This work presents the first experimental demonstration of an externally pumped on-chip ultrafast soliton laser source based on Raman soliton self-frequency shift. The source, using Ge28Sb12Se60 chalcogenide glass waveguides, achieves continuous wavelength tunability with high signal-to-noise ratios, significantly improving energy efficiency and demonstrating excellent spectral purity and stability. These results provide insights into soliton dynamics and critical device design guidelines, enabling a new class of broadly tunable, energy-efficient, compact, and potentially cost-effective on-chip ultrafast laser sources.

Loss-induced switching between electromagnetically induced transparency and critical coupling in a chalcogenide waveguide

Bin Zhang et al.

Summary: By harnessing optical loss in a coupled high-Q resonators system, on-chip electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) can be achieved, leading to fast and nonvolatile responses. This mechanism, demonstrated experimentally on chalcogenide coupled microring resonators in a monolithically integrated chip, provides a new perspective for tunable photonic devices.

Li Gong et al.

Summary: A novel z-scan-free stimulated Raman scattering tomography (SRST) utilizing optical beating technique (OBT) and Bessel beams enables deeper penetration for label-free volumetric chemical imaging with subcellular resolution. The technology encodes depth-resolved SRS signals in the spatial frequency domain, rapidly retrieving volumetric tissue information without mechanical depth-scanning, and demonstrates improved imaging depth in highly scattering samples compared to conventional SRS microscopy, with potential applications in various biological and biomedical systems.

Chengli Wang et al.

Summary: By experimenting with photonic microresonators on a 4H-silicon-carbide-on-insulator platform, a wide range of frequency conversion phenomena, including second-, third-, and fourth-harmonic generation, as well as cascaded Raman lasing, were observed under high-Q factors. Additionally, by engineering the dispersion properties of the SiC microresonator, broadband Kerr frequency combs covering from 1300 to 1700nm were achieved. This demonstration represents a significant milestone in the development of SiC photonic integrated devices.
