Ti3C2-MXene composite films functionalized with polypyrrole and ionic liquid-based microemulsion particles for supercapacitor applications

Qi Fan et al.

Summary: A novel strategy utilizing polymerized polypyrrole (PPy) particles and ionic liquid (ILs)-based microemulsion particles as dual spacers is developed to fabricate functionalized Ti3C2-MXene composite films for high-performance supercapacitors. The PPy particles circumvent restacking issues of MXene nanosheets and contribute to desirable capacitance, while ILs-based microemulsions improve fast ion diffusion kinetics and electrolyte imbibition steps, resulting in excellent specific capacitance, rate capability, and cycling stability. The composite films show great potential in advanced MXene-based supercapacitors using various ionic liquid electrolytes, achieving high energy density and maintaining high coulombic efficiency after 2000 cycles.

Molecular Simulations of Surfactant Adsorption on Iron Oxide from Hydrocarbon Solvents

Pablo Navarro Acero et al.

Summary: This study utilized molecular dynamics simulations to investigate the adsorption process of OFMs at solid-liquid interfaces, and validated the accuracy of the simulation results through experimental friction tests. It was found that stearic acid forms monolayers with lower coverage at low concentrations but highest plateau coverage at high concentrations, while glycerol monooleate and glycerol mono-ostearate occupy similar areas on the surface.

Ionic Liquid-Controlled Shape Transformation of Spherical to Nonspherical Polymersomes via Hierarchical Self-Assembly of a Diblock Copolymer

Vidiksha Bhushan et al.

Summary: By changing the concentration of PEG-b-PCL and/or changing the solvent using different ILs, the shape transformation of self-assembled PEG-b-PCL nanostructures can be effectively induced to generate nonspherical polymersomes, such as worm-like aggregates, stomatocytes, nanotubes, large hexagonal and tubular-shaped polymersomes, providing a promising platform for the design of biodegradable soft dynamic systems. These systems can be used in the micro/nano motor field for cancer-targeted delivery, diagnosis and imaging-guided therapy, and controlled release of therapeutic drugs for the treatment of various diseases.

Unusual Maximum in the Adsorption of Aqueous Surfactant Mixtures: Neutron Reflectometry of Mixtures of Zwitterionic and Ionic Surfactants at the Silica-Aqueous Interface

Kun Ma et al.

Summary: The adsorption behavior of two zwitterionic surfactants and their mixtures at the silica-water interface has been studied, revealing strong and cooperative adsorption of C12CB and SDS at fractional SDS compositions up to about 0.5, while the cooperativity is lost when the adsorbed fraction of SDS rises above 0.5.
