Hepatitis B virus P protein initiates glycolytic bypass in HBV-related hepatocellular carcinoma via a FOXO3/miRNA-30b-5p/MINPP1 axis

Wenbiao Chen et al.

Summary: The study found that Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection promotes the proliferation and migration of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cells through affecting the glycolytic bypass. By reducing the expression of MINPP1, miRNA-30b-5p plays a role in promoting tumor cell proliferation in HBV-positive HCC. Bioinformatics analysis on a large dataset showed that high expression of MINPP1 is associated with favorable survival in HBV-positive HCC patients.

Recent advances in microdroplet techniques for single-cell protein analysis

Zhihang Yu et al.

Summary: Proteins play a crucial role in cellular activities, and single-cell protein research is vital for understanding cellular heterogeneity. Droplet technology, as an effective tool for single-cell manipulation, has revolutionized high-throughput single-cell protein analysis by precisely controlling droplet volume and preventing contamination. The high-throughput and automated nature of droplet technology allows for the analysis of tens of thousands of single cells within an hour, making it highly compatible and admired in the field of single-cell protein analysis.

Development of microfluidic droplet shooter and its application to interface for mass spectrometry

Yutaka Kazoe et al.

Summary: This study presents a method for shooting picoliter droplets in a controlled direction using microscale gas-phase laminar flows applied to a mass spectrometry interface. A microfluidic device with a branched and stepped hydrophobic microchannel was fabricated to achieve high-efficiency sample transport to a single quadrupole mass spectrometer. By understanding and utilizing capillary force and drag force, a design guideline was established for efficient droplet shooting.

Potential applications of deep learning in single-cell RNA sequencing analysis for cell therapy and regenerative medicine

Ruojin Yan et al.

Summary: Stem cells hold potential for treating previously incurable diseases in cell therapy and regenerative medicine strategies, but current application methods are underdeveloped. Combining machine learning with data from single-cell RNA sequencing can help discover hidden structures of stem cells and improve prediction accuracy. However, analyzing data from single-cell RNA sequencing poses challenges like denoising, reducing dimensionality, imputing missing values, and accounting for zero-inflated nature.
