Structure and Corrosion Behavior of TiO2 Thin Films Deposited by ALD on a Biomedical Magnesium Alloy

Aneta Kania et al.

Summary: This study investigates the structural observations and corrosion behavior of TiO2 thin films deposited onto a MgCa2Zn1Gd3 alloy using atomic layer deposition (ALD). The results show that the TiO2 films can slow down the corrosion rate of the magnesium-based alloy, with thicker TiO2 films providing higher corrosion resistance.

Summary: The study investigates the corrosion behavior and biological response of ALD TiO2, HfO2, and ZrO2 coatings on AZ31 alloy. Results indicate improved corrosion resistance and cytotoxicity of all three coatings, with HfO2 showing the highest performance in terms of corrosion resistance and cell viability.
