Three-phase borate solid solution with low sintering temperature, high-quality factor, and low dielectric constant

Rui Peng et al.

Summary: The sintering and microwave dielectric properties of a ceramic material based on the mixing of Mg3B2O6 and Zn3B2O6 have been extensively studied through first-principles calculations and experimental solid-state reactions. The research successfully explains the substitution mechanism and quantitatively analyzes the sintering, substitution, and phase formation properties through energy parameters.

Ultra-high quality factor and low dielectric constant of (Zn0.5Ti0.5)3+ co-substituted MgAl2O4 ceramic

Fan Yang et al.

Summary: High-Qf and low-epsilon(r) MgAl2O4-based ceramics were obtained via conventional solid-state reaction method. Excellent microwave dielectric properties were achieved with x=0.5 samples sintered at 1550 degrees C. The dense microstructure, secondary phases, and cation vacancies dominated the high Qf values, while secondary phases and ionic polarizability mainly affected the epsilon r values. The ceramics show potential applications in millimeter-wave communication, dielectric filters, antennas, and resonators.
