In Situ pH Monitoring in Turbid Coastal Waters Based on Self-Electrodeposition Ir/IrO2 Electrode

Summary: In this study, a highly selective iridium oxide (IrO2) electrode was successfully prepared on the surface of an iridium (Ir) electrode using rapid self-electrodeposition, allowing for accurate monitoring of pH in turbid waters. The Ir/IrO2 electrode exhibited rapid and linear pH response across a wide pH range, with good temperature linearity, low potential drift, high accuracy, and a long lifespan. Practical investigation showed that the Ir/IrO2 electrode had faster equilibrium rate and higher stability compared to traditional glass pH electrodes, making it suitable for in situ pH monitoring in turbid environmental water matrices.
