Improvement of the catalytic properties of porous lanthanum manganite for the oxygen reduction reaction by partial substitution of strontium for lanthanum

Qianqian Ji et al.

Summary: This study investigates the catalytic properties of lanthanum strontium manganite catalysts for the oxygen reduction reaction and identifies the most active catalyst formulation. The use of carbon spheres as templates to prepare porous La0.4Sr0.6MnO3 catalyst further enhances its catalytic activity, demonstrating the potential for improvement in ORR performance.

The Impact of Sintering Atmosphere and Temperature on the Phase Evolution of High Surface Area LSCF Prepared by In Situ Carbon Templating

Sixbert P. Muhoza et al.

Summary: The thermochemical stability of lanthanum strontium cobalt ferrite (LSCF) processed between 1000 degrees C-1200 degrees C via the in situ carbon templating method was studied. Samples processed in argon and nitrogen environments showed differences in crystallite size and impurity content after oxidation, demonstrating that the inert processing conditions influenced the purity of the LSCF phase. Additionally, nano-LSCF electrodes prepared using the templating method showed higher surface areas, but were dominated by interfacial charge transfer resistance in SOFC applications.
