Structure and crystallization behavior of phosphorus-containing nepheline (NaAlSiO4) based sodium aluminosilicate glasses

Ping Lu et al.

Summary: The study reveals that an increase in P2O5 content in peraluminous glasses results in the crystallization of AlPO4 as the primary phase, while the substitution of SiO2 by P2O5 within a certain range (10 +/- 20 mol.%) suppresses the crystallization of nepheline.

Network Formation in Borosilicate Glasses with Aluminum or Gallium: Implications for Nepheline Crystallization

Arun Krishnamurthy et al.

Summary: The addition of aluminum to borosilicate glasses results in the reorganization of boron units, inhibiting nepheline crystallization. The interference of B-[3] units with Si-Al ordering critical to nepheline formation leads to inhibition of nucleation. The different behaviors of Al and Ga in the glass network are compared, with gallium being less effective in competing for Na+ compared to aluminum.

Predicting nepheline precipitation in waste glasses using ternary submixture model and machine learning

Xiaonan Lu et al.

Summary: This study evaluated various machine learning models to predict nepheline precipitation in waste glasses, emphasizing the importance of data preparation and modeling protocols, and their effect on model stability and reproducibility. The results provide insights into applying machine learning to predict glass properties and suggest areas for future research on modeling nepheline precipitation. Model accuracy, precision, recall/sensitivity, and F1 scores were systematically compared between different ML algorithms and modeling protocols, with an observed accuracy of around 0.9 (misclassification rate of around 10%) for different algorithms under certain protocols.
