Is American Joint Replacement Registry Data Representative of National Data? A Comparative Analysis

Kimberly R. Porter et al.

Summary: This study examines whether data from the American Joint Replacement Registry (AJRR) represents the national experience with hip and knee arthroplasty in the United States. The findings show that the AJRR data is similar to the National (Nationwide) Inpatient Sample (NIS) data in terms of demographics, hospital volume, and geographic characteristics. This suggests that the AJRR findings can be generalized to a larger US cohort.
