Geomorphology of a tropical river delta under pressure: the Rufiji delta, Tanzania-context, channel connectivity and alongshore morpho-sedimentary and hydrodynamic variability

Edward J. Anthony et al.

Summary: The study found that the geomorphology of the Rufiji River delta is mainly influenced by the tectonic context, sediment supply, and river basin, resulting in functional channels mainly in the low-energy muddy north sector. The loss of distributary connectivity in the south sector appears to have occurred gradually over time, not as a sudden avulsion.
