Five new coordination assemblies of substituted zinc(II) isophthalates and H(2)pbbp linkers have been synthesized under hydrothermal conditions, exhibiting different layer structures and supramolecular networks. The properties of these compounds, including thermal stability, powder X-ray diffractions, infrared spectra and luminescence, have been investigated.
Five new coordination assemblies of substituted zinc(II) isophthalates and H(2)pbbp {H(2)pbbp = N,N'-[(1,4-phenylene)bis(methylene)]bis(pyridine-4-carboxamide)} linkers, namely, [Zn(pbbp)(Fip)]n, 1, [Zn(pbbp)(Nip) .H2O](n), 2, [Zn(pbbp)(Mip).H2O](n), 3, [Zn(pbbp)(Bip).H2O](n), 4, [Zn(pbbp)(TM)(H2O).H2O](n), 5 have been synthesized under hydrothermal conditions. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis reveals compounds 1 -5 exhibit the two-dimensional layer structures. The layered structures in compounds 1-4 are further extended in to threedimensional supramolecular networks due to the strong hydrogen bonding. The thermal stability, powder X-ray diffractions, infrared spectra and luminescence properties of these compounds have also been investigated.
