Polyarylimide and porphyrin based polymer microspheres for zinc ion hybrid capacitors

Fu-Zhi Cui et al.

Summary: Aqueous zinc-ion hybrid capacitors (ZIHCs) are promising for grid-scale energy storage due to their low cost, intrinsic non-flammability, environmental friendliness, and high power densities. However, the uncontrollable zinc dendrite growth and large volume change of zinc metal anode during the stripping/plating process hinder their practical application. Developing alternative anode materials with favorable electrochemical performances is highly desirable in order to address these challenges.

Approach of fermi level and electron-trap level in cadmium sulfide nanorods via molybdenum doping with enhanced carrier separation for boosted photocatalytic hydrogen production

Changfa Guo et al.

Summary: A facile one-pot solvothermal strategy was used to synthesize Mo-doped CdS nanorods in this study, which exhibited significantly enhanced photocatalytic activity with an H-2 production rate of 14.62 mmol.g(-1).h(-1) without the need for Pt as a co-catalyst, about 5.8 times higher than bare CdS. This work provides new insight into the facile synthesis of visible-light-driven photocatalysts and the effect of metal ion doping on the modulation of electronic structures.

High performance flexible quasi-solid-state zinc-ion hybrid supercapacitors enable by electrode potential adjustment

Yongchuan Liu et al.

Summary: Rechargeable zinc-ion batteries are gaining attention due to their cost effectiveness, ecofriendliness, and high capacity, but they face challenges like poor rate capacities and low lifespans because of zinc dendrite formation. By using pre-zincation electrode treatment, a novel zinc-ion hybrid supercapacitor (ZIS) with high specific energy and cycle stability is demonstrated. Additionally, a Flexible Quasi-Solid-State Zinc-ion Hybrid Supercapacitor (FQSSZIS) with excellent flexibility, cycling stability, and high energy density is developed using a unique gel electrolyte and graphite paper current collectors.
