Novel Fenton process of Co-catalyst Co9S8 quantum dots for highly efficient removal of organic pollutants

Chencheng Dong et al.

Summary: The synthesis of water-soluble Co9S8 quantum dots significantly enhances the decomposition rate of H2O2, improving the efficiency of treating organic pollutants using advanced oxidation processes. The unsaturated edged S atoms on the surface of Co9S8 play a key role in promoting the reaction process. Additionally, magnetic Co9S8 QDs/Fe3O4 nanoparticles show excellent performance in degrading Rhodamine B.

Energy saving intermittent electro-Fenton system combined with commercial MoS2 for effective Rhodamine B degradation

Yanping Cui et al.

Summary: Commercial molybdenum sulfide (MoS2) was applied as a co-catalyst in the intermittent electro-Fenton process for Rhodamine B degradation, leading to a 2.4 times higher degradation rate constant compared to the system without MoS2. Hydroxyl radicals (center dot OH) were identified as the dominant reactive species, with intermittent electrolysis mode showing superiority in RhB degradation.

Carbon-based cathodes degradation during electro-Fenton treatment at pilot scale: Changes in H2O2 electrogeneration

I Salmeron et al.

Summary: The autopsy of carbon-PTFE cathodes in a plate-and-frame cell with a Nb-BDD anode revealed a significant decrease in H2O2 electrogeneration, hindering the efficient performance of Fenton-like processes. The study found that the first cathode suffered surface degradation, while the second cathode had iron oxide inlays due to the decomposition of Fe3+:EDDS and iron precipitation at neutral pH.

Cu2+/Cu+ cycle promoted PMS decomposition with the assistance of Mo for the degradation of organic pollutant

Haopeng Luo et al.

Summary: In this study, molybdenum powder was utilized as a co-catalyst to enhance the degradation of 2,4-dichlorophenol in the Cu2+/PMS system. The addition of Mo facilitated the rapid reduction of Cu2+ to Cu+, leading to increased PMS activation efficiency. The Mo/Cu2+/PMS system demonstrated improved degradation rates and stability, showing potential for efficient treatment of organic pollutants.
