Rational design of self-supported Cu@WC core-shell mesoporous nanowires for pH-universal hydrogen evolution reaction

Mengqi Yao et al.

Summary: In this study, Cu@WC core-shell nanowires were successfully fabricated and showed excellent performance in hydrogen evolution reaction. The core-shell structure increased the carrier density of WC and formed strongly delocalised electrons under external potential.

Solar-driven hydrogen generation coupled with urea electrolysis by an oxygen vacancy-rich catalyst

Mengqi Yao et al.

Summary: By using a hybrid electrolyzer with urea oxidation to produce inert gases instead of water oxidation to generate oxygen, energy consumption for green hydrogen production is reduced significantly, while the safety hazard of explosive hydrogen-oxygen mixture is avoided.

N, O self-codoped hierarchical porous carbon from chitosan for supercapacitor electrode active materials

Xiao-Li Zhang et al.

Summary: The oxygen and nitrogen self-codoped activated carbon nanosheets prepared from chitosan using ZnCl2 exhibit significantly increased specific surface area and richer porosity compared to pristine carbon. The optimal carbon delivers superior capacitive performance in three-electrode supercapacitors, with a specific capacitance of 287.94 F g-1 at 1.0 A g-1. Additionally, the optimal carbon-based symmetric supercapacitor shows good energy density and cycling stability, providing an effective way for fabricating heteroatom self-doped porous carbon materials for advanced electrochemical energy storage devices.
