Biobased PLA/sugarcane bagasse fiber composites: Effect of fiber characteristics and interfacial adhesion on properties

Andras Bartos et al.

Summary: PLA/sugarcane bagasse fiber composites prepared by injection molding show significant attrition in fiber length and diameter during processing, resulting in fibers of similar dimensions. The interfacial adhesion between PLA and bagasse is good, and coupling agent has minimal effect on properties. Fiber fracture and shear yielding contribute to increased impact resistance.

Synthesis of pH-sensitive nanocarriers based on polyacrylamide grafted nanocrystalline cellulose for targeted drug delivery to folate receptor in breast cancer cells

Sedigheh Ehsanimehr et al.

Summary: In this study, nanocrystalline cellulose (NCC) was prepared and modified for drug delivery applications. Two pathways were followed to synthesize nanocarriers, one involving cyclodextrin (CD) and folic acid (FA) interaction, and the other directly grafting FA onto the modified cellulose. Drug loading capacity and release were characterized, and the effect of drug-loaded nanocarriers on breast cancer cells was investigated, showing some inhibitory effects in vitro.

Engineering nanocomposite hydrogels using dynamic bonds

Cheng-Hsun Lu et al.

Summary: Nanocomposite hydrogels synthesized using dynamic bonds, including both dynamic covalent and non-covalent bonds, offer versatile properties for biomedical applications. Dynamic bonds provide self-healing and stimulus responsiveness to the hydrogels, and their presence at polymer interfaces determines the role of particles as fillers or crosslinkers in the hydrogels. Multiple examples of NC hydrogels fabricated using dynamic bonds are discussed in this review, highlighting their design, preparation, properties, applications, and future prospects.
