Rashba spin splitting and anomalous spin textures in the bulk ferroelectric oxide perovskite KIO3

Sajjan Sheoran et al.

Summary: The momentum-dependent Rashba and Dresselhaus spin splitting has attracted significant attention for its potential applications in spintronics. In this study, the researchers investigate the ferroelectric oxide perovskite KIO3 and find non-negligible spin splitting effects at certain band positions in different phases. The spin textures are analyzed using a combined framework of density functional theory and the k center dot p model Hamiltonian. The results show the enhancement of Rashba parameters by tuning the epitaxial strain and the reversal of spin-orientation by switching the direction of polarization.
