Strong coupling and pressure engineering in WSe2-MoSe2heterobilayers

Juan Xia et al.

Summary: This study achieves high-quality 2H-stacked WSe2-MoSe(2) heterostructures through a two-step chemical vapor deposition method, demonstrating effective tuning of interlayer interactions by hydrostatic pressure. The research reveals strong coupling nature and pressure-induced evolution of interlayer excitons, providing new opportunities for exploring and tuning van der Waals heterostructures with strong interlayer coupling.

Strong interlayer coupling in two-dimensional PbSe with high thermoelectric performance

Z. P. Yin et al.

Summary: It is found that there is strong coupling between Pb-Pb layers in two-dimensional chalcogenides, which can be fine-tuned to reduce phonon thermal conductivity significantly while slightly changing electronic transport, resulting in a maximum ZT value of 2.5 at 900 K for the p-type system. This work also presents an effective design strategy to enhance the thermoelectric performance of similar layered structures.

Summary: Layer-by-layer integration of two-dimensional atomically thin materials is an effective approach for customized engineering of heteromaterials. First-principle calculations investigate geometrical configurations and electronic characteristics of 1T-XN2(X = S, Se, Te)/hBN van der Waals heterostructures, demonstrating the potential for future electronic and optoelectronic device applications with carrier separation regulation through strain engineering.

Unusual interlayer coupling in layered Cu-based ternary chalcogenides CuMCh2 (M = Sb, Bi; Ch = S, Se)

Dan-Dong Wang et al.

Summary: This study reports an unusual interlayer coupling mechanism in Cu-based ternary chalcogenides, where the coupling between the conduction band minimum and the valence band maximum in different layers leads to an increase in the band gap with increasing layers, contrary to the conventional trend.

Probing interlayer interaction via chiral phonons in layered honeycomb materials

Chen Chen et al.

Summary: By probing the interlayer interaction in layered honeycomb materials via chiral phonons, we found that the chirality of the Raman G mode decreases with increasing layer numbers. Our Raman tensor calculation results agree well with the experiments, indicating that the interlayer interaction can significantly influence lattice vibration.

Recent progress in contact, mobility, and encapsulation engineering of InSe and GaSe

Himani Arora et al.

Summary: The field of two-dimensional materials, particularly III-VI monochalcogenides like indium selenide and gallium selenide, has attracted significant interest due to their high intrinsic mobility and direct bandgap properties. However, their sensitivity to environmental influences and limited scalable synthesis methods have hindered their practical applications. Research has focused on improving device structures and developing effective encapsulation techniques to prevent degradation.
