Summary: The Rh-III-catalyzed allylic C-H alkynylation of non-activated terminal alkenes selectively leads to linear 1,4-enynes at room temperature. Additionally, the vinylic C-H alkynylation of alpha, beta- and beta, gamma- unsaturated amides gives conjugated Z-1,3-enynes and E-enediynes.

Rh-Catalyzed Ortho C-H Alkynylation of Aromatic Aldehydes

Summary: The Rh(III)-catalyzed ortho-alkynylation of benzaldehydes is achieved through the transient formation of an imine as a directing group. A wide range of substrates can be obtained under mild reaction conditions, leading to mono- and dialkynylated products. The functionalization of readily available building blocks enables the development of modular syntheses of dibenzopentalenes, isoquinolines, indoles, and indolines.

Room-temperature C-H bond alkynylation by merging cobalt and photocatalysts

Summary: A new protocol has been developed for mono- and bis-ortho-C-H alkynylation of easily accessible benzamide derivatives using alkynyl bromides at room temperature by combining cobalt and photocatalysts. Different alkynyl bromides have shown diverse reactivity towards C-H alkynylation and competing C-H/N-H bond annulation reactions, resulting in good yields with excellent functional group tolerance.
