Relationships between sarcopenia, depressive symptoms, and mild cognitive impairment in Chinese community-dwelling older adults

Xiaoyu Chen et al.

Summary: The study found a significant association between sarcopenia (including muscle mass, muscle strength, and physical performance) and depressive symptoms with MCI in older adults. Depressive symptoms were identified as a significant mediator in the relationship between sarcopenia, muscle strength, and physical performance with cognitive function. Additionally, the relationship between depressive symptoms and cognition was also mediated by sarcopenia, muscle strength, and physical performance.
