Pediatric choroid plexus papilloma arising from the cerebellopontine angle: systematic review with illustrative case

Summary: Pediatric choroid plexus papillomas arising in the cerebellopontine angle are extremely rare tumors, presenting with symptoms such as headache, cerebellar signs, and cranial nerve palsies. Surgical excision is the mainstay of treatment with excellent outcomes achievable for the majority of patients.

Summary: The study evaluated the efficacy of Gamma Knife stereotactic radiosurgery for low- and high-grade choroid plexus tumors, showing a high rate of local tumor control, especially for low-grade tumors. This study found that aCPP can be successfully managed with surgical resection alone, without the need for adjuvant therapies. Methylation profiling showed similarities between aCPPs, choroid plexus papillomas, and choroid plexus carcinomas.
