Pediatric choroid plexus papilloma arising from the cerebellopontine angle: systematic review with illustrative case

Mairre James S. Gaddi et al.

Summary: Pediatric choroid plexus papillomas arising in the cerebellopontine angle are extremely rare tumors, presenting with symptoms such as headache, cerebellar signs, and cranial nerve palsies. Surgical excision is the mainstay of treatment with excellent outcomes achievable for the majority of patients.

Stereotactic Radiosurgery for Choroid Plexus Tumors: A Report of the International Radiosurgery Research Foundation

Andrew Faramand et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the efficacy of Gamma Knife stereotactic radiosurgery for low- and high-grade choroid plexus tumors, showing a high rate of local tumor control, especially for low-grade tumors. Distant brain tumor progression-free survival rate was relatively high, but some patients experienced persistent symptomatic adverse radiation effects.

Summary: Choroid plexus tumors are rare intraventricular tumors, more commonly found in males with headache as the most common symptom. The extent of resection and tumor size are related to overall survival.

Paediatric atypical choroid plexus papilloma: is adjuvant therapy necessary?

Chantelle Browne-Farmer et al.

Summary: Choroid plexus tumours, particularly atypical choroid plexus papillomas (aCPPs), are rare in children and there is no consensus on the optimal management approach. This study found that aCPP can be successfully managed with surgical resection alone, without the need for adjuvant therapies. Methylation profiling showed similarities between aCPPs, choroid plexus papillomas, and choroid plexus carcinomas.

Molecular insights into malignant progression of atypical choroid plexus papilloma

Maxim Yankelevich et al.

Summary: Choroid plexus tumors, especially carcinomas associated with Li-Fraumeni syndrome and TP53 mutations, have poor responses to chemotherapy and should avoid radiation therapy. Malignant transformation from choroid plexus papillomas to carcinomas is rare, and the molecular mechanisms are not well understood.
