This study investigated the inhibition effect of Prosopis farcta extract combined with Sodium Dodecyl Sulfate on the corrosion of St37 steel in 1 M HCl through electrochemical tests and surface examination. The results showed a synergistic effect of the combination, with the highest inhibition rate reaching 90%. The adsorption of the inhibitor follows the Langmuir isotherm.
In this study, the inhibition effect of Prosopis farcta (PF) extract combined with Sodium Dodecyl Sulfate (SDS) on the corrosion of St37 steel in 1 M HCl was investigated by electrochemical tests (polarization and EIS) and surface examination (AFM and FESEM). The results of polarization tests showed that the critical micelle concentration (CMC) of SDS in 1 M HCl at ambient temperature is 400 mg/L. It was found that the combination of 800 mg/L PF extract and 400 mg/L SDS have a synergistic effect. The highest inhibition effect for St37 steel in 1 M HCl was 90%, which was achieved when 800 mg/L PF was combined with 400 mg/L SDS. The adsorption of this inhibitor follows the Langmuir isotherm.
