A theoretical investigation on the mercaptopurine drug interaction with boron nitride nanocage: Solvent and density functional effect

Yu Yang et al.

Summary: Density functional calculations were used to investigate the interactions between mercaptopurine (MP) drug and pristine B24N24 nanocage, leading to the discovery of an MP drug nano-sensor. The study concluded that the electronic and structural characteristics of B24N24 nanocage make them a potentially-promising device for detecting MP drug.

DFT calculations towards the geometry optimization, electronic structure, infrared spectroscopy and UV-vis analyses of Favipiravir adsorption on the first-row transition metals doped fullerenes; a new strategy for COVID-19 therapy

Ali Shokuhi Rad et al.

Summary: This study investigated the potential of metallofullerenes as drug carriers using Density Functional Theory, finding that chromium, iron, and nickel-doped fullerenes exhibit excellent adsorption properties for Favipiravir. In-depth analysis through IR spectroscopy and UV-vis analysis was conducted to study the interactions between the drug and metallofullerenes.

Molecular modeling investigation of adsorption of Zolinza drug on surfaces of the B12N12 and Al12N12 nanocages

Masoome Sheikhi et al.

Summary: In this study, the adsorption of ZOL drug on B12N12 and Al12N12 nanocages was investigated using DFT and TDDFT calculations in water solvent. The UV absorption spectra were computed to study the changes during the adsorption process, revealing charge transfer and strong covalent characteristics. It was found that B12N12 fullerene can serve as a suitable drug carrier for ZOL delivery.
