Corrosion inhibition performance and computational studies of pyridine and pyran derivatives for API X-65 steel in 6 M H2SO4

Kurls E. Anwer et al.

Summary: This study investigates the corrosion inhibition effect of pyridine and pyran derivatives on API X-65 steel in a 6M H2SO4 solution. Experimental and theoretical methods were used to evaluate the inhibition efficiency, with pyridine derivatives showing higher inhibition than pyran derivatives and the inhibition order being III > I > II > IV. Theoretical quantum chemical calculations were found to be well correlated with experimental results.

Insight into the corrosion inhibition of new amino-acids as efficient inhibitors for mild steel in HCl solution: Experimental studies and theoretical calculations

M. Oubaaqa et al.

Summary: Phenylalanine and Aspartic acid have been studied for their inhibition of mild steel corrosion in hydrochloric acid solution, with their efficiency increasing with concentration and following the Langmuir adsorption mechanism. These compounds act as mixed inhibitors and decrease the dissolution of ferric ions in corrosive solutions, with good adsorption on the MS surface observed through SEM images. Computational methods like DFT, MCS, and MDS were used to study the metal-inhibitor interaction type.

Experimental/computational assessments of API steel in 6 M H2SO4 medium containing novel pyridine derivatives as corrosion inhibitors

Ahmed A. Farag et al.

Summary: In this study, two pyridine derivatives were synthesized and their inhibitive influence on API carbon steel corrosion was investigated. The experimental results demonstrated that these pyridine derivatives could effectively inhibit the corrosion of carbon steel, with the inhibition effect following the Langmuir isotherm model.

Efficiency of Gemini surfactant containing semi-rigid spacer as microbial corrosion inhibitor for carbon steel in simulated seawater

Hailin Zhu et al.

Summary: The study found that the inhibition efficiency of 0.01 mM 12-B-12 was as high as 98.3% after 30 days of incubation with SRB in simulated seawater, and the planktonic and sessile SRB on the carbon steel surface can be reduced to undetectable level. This Gemini surfactant showed promising anti-bacterial and anti-corrosion performances in the presence of SRB.

Novel Schiff base-based cationic Gemini surfactants as corrosion inhibitors for Q235 carbon steel and printed circuit boards

Summary: The synthesized novel Gemini surfactants exhibit excellent anti-corrosion effects with high inhibition efficiency for metal corrosion, showing limitations in their corrosion inhibition for certain metals. Experimental results demonstrate that these surfactants are effective inhibitors for metal corrosion.
