Effective corrosion inhibition of mild steel by eco-friendly thiourea functionalized glucosamine derivatives in acidic solution

Summary: Two thiourea functionalized glucosamine derivatives, GA-1 and GA-2, were synthesized as eco-friendly corrosion inhibitors for mild steel in 1 M HCl solution. Both inhibitors showed high efficiency, with GA-2 reaching an inhibition efficiency of 97.7% at a concentration of 0.64 mM. Theoretical calculations were also conducted to elucidate the adsorption mechanism of the inhibitors on the steel surface.

(E)-2-styryl-1H-benzo[d]imidazole as novel green corrosion inhibitor for carbon steel: Experimental and computational approach

Computational studies showed that the inhibitor adsorbed mainly in the protonated form, resulting in a shift in the steel's work function.

Natural nutmeg oil as a green corrosion inhibitor for carbon steel in 1.0 M HCl solution: Chemical, electrochemical, and computational methods

Purine derivatives as high efficient eco-friendly inhibitors for the corrosion of mild steel in acidic medium: Experimental and theoretical calculations

The results demonstrate that the adsorbed films of FAP and N-BAP effectively prevent the diffusion of corrosive species, thereby inhibiting the corrosion of mild steel.

Verification of corrosion inhibition of Mild steel by some 4-Aminoantipyrine-based Schiff bases - Impact of adsorbate substituent and cross-conjugation

Summary: The corrosion inhibition of mild steel by a series of 4-aminoantipyrine-based Schiff base compounds was studied in 1 N HCl aqueous medium using electrochemical methods. The inhibitors exhibited mixed cathodic/anodic nature and were found to form protective layers on the steel surface. Substituents on the Schiff bases, such as -OCH3, -OH, and -NMe2, showed better inhibition tendencies. The role of cross conjugation in electron donating and accepting properties in corrosion inhibition was observed, and thermodynamic modeling suggested physical and chemical interactions between the molecules and the metal surface.
