Numerical simulation of the effect of battery distance and inlet and outlet length on the cooling of cylindrical lithium-ion batteries and overall performance of thermal management system

Behrooz Ruhani et al.

Summary: This paper simulates the cooling system of a two-dimensional lithium-ion battery pack with 9 battery cells. The study shows that increasing the Reynolds number lowers the maximum temperature of the battery pack. Additionally, increasing the inlet size raises the maximum temperature of all battery cells in the system.

Ultrasensitive Exhaled Breath Sensors Based on Anti-Resonant Hollow Core Fiber with In Situ Grown ZnO-Bi2O3 Nanosheets

Wei Liu et al.

Summary: The combination of ZnO-Bi2O3 nanosheets heterostructure grown on the surface of HCF enables the gas sensor to exhibit high sensitivity, selectivity, and repeatability for acetone detection at room temperature, particularly in the low concentration range. The successful application of the ZnO-Bi2O3 nanosheets on HCF also allows the sensor to distinguish exhaled breath from healthy individuals and simulated diabetic cases, paving the way for non-invasive, ultra-sensitive gas sensing at room temperature for early diabetes diagnosis.

Theoretical and Experimental Analysis of Surface Roughness and Adhesion Forces of MEMS Surfaces Using a Novel Method for Making a Compound Sputtering Target

Majid Salehi et al.

Summary: A novel method for preparing a compound sputtering target was proposed for coating Ag-Au thin films on silicon substrates with different thicknesses, showing that the 500 nm thick layer has lower adhesion force compared to the 120 nm layer. The results suggested that the adhesion predicted by the Rabinovich model was closer to the experimental values.

Interplay between counter-surface chemistry and mechanical activation in mechanochemical removal of N-faced GaN surface in humid ambient

Jian Guo et al.

Summary: The mechanical removal of GaN using diamond tip and mechanochemical removal using Al2O3 tip are described by the Archard equation and mechanically assisted Arrhenius-type kinetic model, respectively. Material removal under elastic contact with the assistance of interfacial mechanochemical reactions is evident. The critical activation volume and activation barrier are determined semiquantitatively by analyzing the mechanochemical reactions with Arrhenius-type kinetic model and Hertzian contact mechanics. The mechanical activation from the chemically active counter-surface facilitates the mechanochemical atomic attrition by altering the energy barrier of the reaction kinetics.
