Analysis of interaction between glutamic acid and ninhydrin in the presence of acetate buffer solvent: Impact of gemini (twin-headed) surfactants

Ajaya Bhattarai et al.

Summary: This study shows that twin-headed gemini surfactants have a significant impact on the interaction between glutamic acid and ninhydrin in an aqueous system. Among gemini surfactants, 16-4-16 exhibited the strongest catalytic activity, followed by 16-5-16 and 16-6-16. A pseudo-phase model for micellar activity was used to evaluate the impact of different gemini surfactants on the rate constant.

Spectroscopic and Conductometric Analyses of Ninhydrin and Threonine Reaction in Double-Headed Geminis

Ajaya Bhattarai et al.

Summary: In this study, the reaction between Nin and Thr was investigated in an aqueous micellar system using spectroscopic and conductometric analyses. The surfactants chosen for the study were geminis with different methylene chain lengths. The reaction rate showed unity- and fractional-order dependencies on [Thr] and [Nin], and the efficiency of geminis in catalyzing the reaction was examined at concentrations both below and above the critical micellar concentration. The experimental outcomes were used to evaluate various constants and parameters and propose a reasonable reaction mechanism.

Comparison of the interaction between propranolol hydrochloride (PPL) with anionic surfactant and cationic surface active ionic liquid in micellar phase

Ahmad Bagheri

Summary: In this study, the interaction between an amphiphilic drug and ionic surfactants in binary mixtures was investigated in the micellar phase using conductometric technique. The results showed attractive interactions between components in both systems, with the NLS/PPL system exhibiting stronger micelle formation capability and synergistic effects. Conductometry measurements indicated higher extent of counterion binding in mixed micelles for the SAIL/PPL system compared to the NLS/PPL system.

Mixed micelle formation between a surface active ionic liquid and tricyclic antidepressant drugs (imipramine hydrochloride and amitriptyline hydrochloride)

Roshanak Kishani Farahani et al.

Summary: The study revealed that in the mixed system of different mole fractions of mixed antidepressant drugs and ionic liquid, the CMC values in the AMT/IL system were lower than those in the IMP/IL system, indicating a more favorable formation of mixed micelles in the presence of AMT. Interaction parameters suggested synergistic effects in mixed systems, while activity coefficients less than unity implied non-ideal mixing. Furthermore, the excess free energy of micellization values confirmed the spontaneity and increased stability of the mixed micelles compared to individual micelles.

Effect of Electrolytes on Solution and Interfacial Behaviors of Double Chain Cationic-Nonionic Surfactant Mixtures for Hydrophobic Surface Wetting and Oil/Water Emulsion Stability Applications

Barnali Banerjee et al.

Summary: The study investigates the solution behaviors of the binary mixture of double chain cationic surfactant DDAB with nonionic surfactants EO-9 and EO-40 under different conditions, showing nonideal behavior. Coexistence of nonionic surfactants leads to a decrease in CMC, CVC, and surface tension of DDAB at two concentrations.
