Anticorrosion and adsorption performance of expired antibacterial drugs on Sabic iron corrosion in HCl solution: Chemical, electrochemical and theoretical approach

M. Abdallah et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that expired ampicillin and ceftriaxone can serve as effective inhibitors for Sabic Fe corrosion, reducing corrosion by adsorbing on the iron surface. Ceftriaxone is more efficient than ampicillin at higher concentrations.

Banana leaves water extracts as inhibitor for X70 steel corrosion in HCl medium

Lei Guo et al.

Summary: In this study, experimental and theoretical methods were used to explore the corrosion inhibition properties of banana leaves water extract (BLWE) for X70 steel in hydrochloric acid solution. It was found that BLWE can effectively inhibit both the anodic and cathodic reactions of X70 steel, leading to a high corrosion inhibition efficiency of approximately 90%. Analysis shows that the compounds in BLWE, such as AHP, ATI, and DDA, demonstrate excellent anticorrosion characteristics by forming a dense barrier film on the steel surface.

Adsorption and inhibition mechanism of efficient and environment friendly corrosion inhibitor for mild steel: Experimental and theoretical study

Harish Kumar et al.

Summary: In this study, garlic was explored as an environmentally friendly inhibitor for mild steel in hydrochloric acid, with allicin identified as the major active component. Various analytical techniques were employed to investigate the mechanism of adsorption and inhibition, revealing a high inhibition efficiency and the formation of a protective film with increasing inhibitor concentration. Additionally, the interaction between mild steel and the inhibitor was assessed through DFT, Fukui function, and molecular dynamic simulation studies, showing promising results for the application of garlic extract as a corrosion inhibitor.

Theoretical and surface/electrochemical investigations of walnut fruit green husk extract as effective inhibitor for mild-steel corrosion in 1M HCl electrolyte

A. R. Shahmoradi et al.

Summary: The study investigated the corrosion inhibition property of Juglone extracted from walnut green husk on mild steel samples exposed to an acid electrolyte. The results showed that the efficiency of the inhibitor increased with higher concentration and reached 95% with 800 ppm of green corrosion inhibitor after 8 hours of immersion. Additionally, the extracted GCI functioned as a mixed-type corrosion inhibitor, as revealed by Tafel extrapolated polarization results.
