Virtual Reality-Based Psychotherapy in Social Anxiety Disorder: fMRI Study Using a Self-Referential Task

Ji-Won Hur et al.

Summary: The study found that individuals with social anxiety disorder showed increased neural responses during positive self-referential processing and decreased responses during negative self-referential processing after virtual reality treatment, leading to symptom reduction. Additionally, post-treatment, there was increased brain activity in individuals with social anxiety disorder during negative self-referential processing.
