Predictors, Outcomes, and Statistical Solutions of Missing Cases in Web-Based Psychotherapy: Methodological Replication and Elaboration Study

Eyal Karin et al.

Do women prefer face-to-face treatment for insomnia? Gender-specific aspects of the utilization of online counselling for sleep disorders

Lukas Retzer et al.

Summary: Female shift workers are more likely to drop out of dCBT-I programs compared to their male counterparts, despite experiencing similar insomnia symptoms. This suggests the need for further research to improve engagement and adherence specifically for women in dCBT-I programs. The relatively small sample size may limit the generalizability of these findings.

Smartphone apps for depression and anxiety: a systematic review and meta-analysis of techniques to increase engagement

Ashley Wu et al.

Summary: Meta-analyses suggest that digital mental health apps can effectively reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety, but sustaining user engagement over time remains a challenge. Features aimed at enhancing engagement were categorized using the persuasive system design framework, with limited use of behavioral economics techniques. Overall, smartphone apps were shown to be effective in treating symptoms of anxiety and depression, with larger effects observed in apps employing a higher number of engagement features. Surprisingly, a negative association was found between persuasive system design features and engagement, reflecting the complexity of factors influencing app efficacy.
