Physical, optical and gamma radiation shielding competence of newly boro-tellurite based glasses: TeO2-B2O3-ZnO-Li2O3-Bi2O3

M. I. Sayyed et al.

Summary: In this study, a traditional melt quenching method was used to synthesize a series of boron tellurite glass samples, with optical properties such as refractive index, molar polarizability, and static dielectric constant calculated based on absorption measurements of the samples. The addition of TeO2 was found to enhance the shielding properties of the glass systems, with the sample containing 80 mol% TeO2 showing the highest attenuation among the samples.

Structural and radiation shielding features for a new series of borate glass samples: part I

M. H. A. Mhareb et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effect of adding BaO to glass samples on their stability and photon shielding capacity. Results showed that while the stability of the glass decreased slightly with BaO addition, its photon shielding competence improved. Experimental calculations demonstrated that glass sample G5 outperformed other standard shielding materials in terms of photon shielding capability.

Bragg-curve simulation of carbon-ion beams for particle-therapy applications: A study with the GEANT4 toolkit

Morad Kh. Hamad

Summary: In this study, Monte Carlo simulations of carbon ion beams in different materials were carried out using the GEANT4 toolkit. The results were compared with experimental data, showing a reasonable correlation. Different materials have varying effects on the Bragg peak position and curve depth dose, with bone contributing the most to the dose.

Structural, magnetic, and critical behavior of CrTe1-xSbx alloys

M. Kh Hamad et al.

Summary: The study found that substitution of Sb in CrTe1-xSbx resulted in a pure NiAs-hexagonal structure with minor changes in the lattice parameters. The critical behavior near the ferromagnetic transition closely followed a mean field-like behavior in all samples. Additionally, the magnetization isotherms near the Curie temperature exhibited universal scaling behavior, supporting the obtained critical exponents.
