Rongrong Ma et al.

Summary: The three-dimensional ZnO/CuO nano-heterogeneous hierarchical structure array demonstrated significant absorption of visible light and enhanced photocurrent. The charge dynamics processes were studied by comparing electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and intensity modulation photocurrent spectroscopy in both the core-shell ZnO/CuO nano-heterostructure array and the three-dimensional ZnO/CuO nano-heterostructure array.

In situ growth of TiO2 nanoparticles on nitrogen-doped Ti3C2 with isopropyl amine toward enhanced photocatalytic activity

Tao Ke et al.

Summary: A novel hybrid of nitrogen-doped Ti3C2 nanosheets and TiO2 nanoparticles was developed for efficient photocatalysis. The heterojunction between nitrogen-doped Ti3C2 and TiO2, along with the nitrogen doping, played crucial roles in facilitating electron migration and inhibiting electron-hole pair recombination, resulting in enhanced degradation of methylene blue under UV-light.

Review MXenes as a new type of nanomaterial for environmental applications in the photocatalytic degradation of water pollutants

Xiaofang Feng et al.

Summary: Two-dimensional titanium carbide (MXene) is a promising material in the field of environmental photocatalysis due to its adjustable bandgap, structural stability, high conductivity, and hydrophilicity. By modifying MXene with heterojunctions and Schottky junctions, the photocatalytic performance can be significantly improved, especially in degrading organic pollutants in the environment.

Comparative study of photocatalysis and gas sensing of ZnO/Ag nanocomposites synthesized by one- and two-step polymer-network gel processes

Y. Liu et al.

Summary: The catalytic and sensing performance of ZnO/Ag nanocomposites is greatly influenced by the synthesis method used. A comparative study was conducted to investigate the differences between one-step and two-step polymer network gel synthesis techniques. The results showed that ZnO/Ag nanocomposites synthesized by the two-step method exhibit enhanced photocatalytic efficiency, gas sensing sensitivity, stability, and selectivity, with specific microstructures and optical characteristics as revealed by various analytical methods.

Ultrathin MXene bridge to accelerate charge transfer in ultrathin metal-free 0D/2D black phosphorus/g-C3N4 heterojunction toward photocatalytic hydrogen production

Ting Song et al.

Summary: The research introduced ultrathin Ti3C2 (TiC) nanosheets with excellent conductivity into ultrathin metal-free black phosphorus (BQ)/ultrathin g-C3N4 (UCN) heterojunction to improve photocatalytic H-2 production activity. The optimized composite displayed advantages such as strong interfacial contact and enhanced visible-light capture, leading to accelerated charge transfer and fast separation of photoinduced carriers. The composite exhibited significantly higher photocatalytic activity compared to bulk g-C3N4 (BCN) and UCN, showing great potential for high solar energy utilization in MXene (Ti3C2)-based catalysts.
